“A Fishy Story”
Please
sign up to help with our special children’s activities for Sundays in August.
Thank
you those who have taken cleaning products to support this charity for blind
people. There are some things left. Take whatever you like and put whatever you
think appropriate in the box.
Apart
from Sundays, our Curate has not been able to get going yet. Despite being now
ordained she is still studying hard for her Diploma in Theology and has a final
10-day summer school yet to attend. This seemingly strange state of affairs
arises because her training programme, operated from Carlisle, was designed with
Michaelmas ordinations (September) in mind rather than Petertide (June). Most
Carlisle ordinations are at Michaelmas. Carole will be away at Summer School for
the next two Sundays and on holiday for the two after that. From mid-August she
will be about her new responsibilities and a new group will be meeting
periodically – Joan, Judith, Carole and Michael, for planning etc. What do we
call this new group? I suggest “The Gang of Four”!
“No Strings Attached” were at Baxenden on Tuesday. Some were away, others not too well but it was a very good evening. Thanks everybody.
Instead
of the usual Mother’s Union summer party there was a mystery outing followed
by a splendid meal at Barley. A good time was had by all despite foul weather.
Many thanks Joan and those who gave lifts in their cars.
